It'd be because you're only 16. It has nothing to do with your race, but in this economy there are a lot more qualified people applying for the same job as you and they get hired. No offense, but if an employer has to choose between a 30 year old, laid-off construction worker with some experience and know how, he will always get a job over an inexperienced 16 year old. But my grandfather (who lived through the Great Depression) once told me that if you are truly willing to work, there is a job out there, you just have to find it. Hang in there and someone will give you a shot. Big retail stores are harder for a young and inexperienced worker to be hired. Try fast food or if you don't like that, do odd jobs. Be an entrepreneur. Start a dog walking business, shoveling snow (depending on where you live), rake leaves, mow lawns, clean houses, pick up dog crap, get a paper route, deliver phone books, there are all kids of opportunities out there. And anything you do, get some references and that'll do wonders. Best of luck to you. 1 year ago 5 people rated this as good .
